Reasons Why I Like K-pop

by Athena Cheung Kwan Yu from 6B

Nowadays, K-pop has become one of the most well-known music genres among teenagers. However, have you ever wondered what captivates them the most? Maybe because of the catchy rhythms, or even because of the gorgeous idols that are widely admired by fans. Well, if you are interested in K-culture, then this article is definitely a perfect fit for you!

If you ask me, the main reason why I like K-pop is definitely the catchy beats and rhythms. When I was first introduced to K-pop, I just thought that it would be another dull and boring music genre. Little did I know, K-pop wasn't only about upbeat songs; they even had deep meanings hidden in simple and basic lyrics. This had me so amazed that I immediately fell in love with K-pop. From that day on, I started listening to K-pop songs on a daily basis. This has really helped me deal with stress and pressure from my academic studies, making me feel way more relaxed.

Other than the engaging songs, I am also deeply inspired by the idols’ perseverance and determination in building their careers in the K-pop industry. Behind every bright smile is actually torture from the company’s harsh daily routine. From sleepless nights to extreme diets, K-pop trainees endure with zero complaints. Unlike normal people, these K-pop trainees work from early mornings to midnights, mostly unable to enjoy a normal childhood as they usually train between 11 and 17. After their debut, K-pop idols are still forced to train continuously for comeback performances and new songs. Despite their hard work, some toxic fans still try to find ways to criticise or threaten them. Even through all the negative energy, these idols still give their best to train and perform for fans. This is also one of the main reasons why I adore them so much.

In conclusion, I hope you have understood the various advantages of listening to K-pop and why it is loved all over the world. I hope that you enjoyed reading my article and can soon find your love for K-pop!
