The Fight For Ramen
by Fergus Yeung 6G
A short story from the Action lesson.
Nick walked down the dojo, seeing his master.
”Hello, Master. What lesson will I be having today?”
”Today's lesson is going to be your first real fight, and your opponent is me.”
Tom says, ”Come on, I'll take you to the arena.”
They arrived at the hexagon-shaped arena with a hollow roof, The sunlight shined through the hollow roof onto the mat.
“Oh, and the prize is a nice, hot bowl of ramen that’s made by me!’
”Oooooo…I’ll devour that in two seconds” Nick said excitedly.
Then, they walked to the arena.
Tom grabbed two wooden swords from the blacksmith strolling through, and threw one to Nick. Then they finally stepped onto the arena, posing for battle
Tom said, ”Now remember what I have taught you, and properly use it in battle.”
”Yes, Master!” Nick responded, ready for the fight.
“Whoever can knock their opponent out of the arena wins,” Tom explained.
Tom advanced forward and jousted his sword, overwhelming Nick, but he blocked it. The sounds of the wooden sword echoed through the dojo.
Tom attacked again with a powerful slash. Nick barely blocked the attack. The sword was stuck in between the habaki and the blade, then Tom pushed further, sending Nick crashing on the wooden beam. And he stood up, readying for the next attack. This was going to be hard.
Then Nick plunged quickly, trying to his master, meanwhile scratching the blade, “Ay boy, care for your sword! It costs a thousand dollars!” Tom scolded.
Then Nick said, ”This one’s for the ramen!”
Nick followed up the attack with a slice, knocking his master away .
Tom quickly recovered from the attack. Seeing that Nick left himself unguarded, Tom swung a spike to his chest with immense power, knocking Nick back..
As Tom flew in the air, he thought, ”Wow, master is really strong! That spike was like a snake’s ambush!” Nick still proceeded to advance, spiking Tom’s chest.
Tom ended up landing, like a gymnast.
Nick grinned, proud of his student.
Having the upper hand, Tom said, ”Watch out for this!” Before pushing the fight further with consistent attacks of stabs, forcing the student to trip out of the arena.
”Owwww…” Nick grunted.
”That was a good fight, my student.” Tom applauded,
”Thanks, Master!” Nick responded.
“Be happy for the ramen!” Tom said while walking to the dojo
“Wait, what? I thought I lost?” Nick asked
“Well, you did so good I might as well give you the prize right?” Tom said
“Oh, yeah, yeah ,sure, it definitely makes sense.” Nick said.
Nick jumped up, following his master to the dojo, thinking how the ramen would come out and craving it.
