Pui Ching 2024 Swimming Gala by Olivia Lam

On December 11, 2024, Pui Ching Primary School held its annual Swimming Gala, and I represented the Pui Ching Gazette by interviewing the winners, participants, and our Principal.

When I arrived at Kowloon Park Swimming Pool, there were many people gathered. My friends and I saw competitors preparing for the races and warming up.

We were excited when the opening ceremony began! The competitions included freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, and the most thrilling event of all—the relay competition!

As the races started, the competitors dove into the pool and swam as fast as they could. Students from different classes cheered enthusiastically for their classmates, creating an electric atmosphere.

Next, I interviewed Chan Woon Yee from class 4G. She expressed her excitement for the competition and hoped to win a medal.

Then, I went to the stage and interviewed two students named Ashlyn and Rayna, also from 4G. They shared that their class did an excellent job cheering for their classmates. Ashlyn added that while her classmates sometimes shouted loudly, she felt perfectly fine about it.

At the end of the event, I interviewed our Principal, Mr. Yip. He expressed his happiness for the students who set new swimming records and emphasized that the new generation of Pui Ching swimmers should aim to swim faster than those before them.

Overall, the Swimming Gala was a wonderful experience! Everyone enjoyed it immensely, and there were many unforgettable moments. I hope that next year’s Swimming Gala will be just as fun as this year’s!
