G-Idle

by Hailey Tong (6C)

K-pop has become a prominent trend in recent times, with one of the most renowned groups being BLACKPINK. Another group, G-IDLE, has earned the moniker "The next BLACKPINK" due to their nearly equal popularity.

Originally a sextet, G-IDLE consisted of members SOYEON, MIYEON, MINNIE, YUQI, SHUHUA. They made their debut in 2018. Notably, their debut song "Latata" was written by G-IDLE's leader, SOYEON. Dissatisfied with the song provided by their company, CUBE Entertainment, SOYEON locked herself in her room for three days and created a masterpiece.

Now, let's delve into the individual members of G-IDLE:

JEON SOYEON:

JEON SOYEON participated in a singing and dancing competition, where she showcased her exceptional talent. Although praised by instructors, viewers criticized her appearance, labeling her an "unpretty rapstar." Despite this setback, SOYEON embraced her uniqueness and disregarded others' judgments. Today, she is widely adored, successful, and has written all of G-IDLE's songs.

CHO MIYEON:

CHO MIYEON, the eldest member of G-IDLE, auditioned for YG Entertainment in 2016 but was unsuccessful. However, she recorded her singing after the audition, catching YG's attention and earning her a chance with BLACKPINK. Eventually, she departed from YG and joined G-IDLE, where she captivates Korean fans with her stunning beauty.

KIM MINNIE:

KIM MINNIE is the sole member from Thailand and is renowned for her captivating voice. Due to her affluent background, she is affectionately called "The prince from Thailand."

SONG YUQI:

SONG YUQI hails from China and is widely regarded as the most famous member of the group. Unfortunately, she has faced mistreatment from CUBE Entertainment, receiving limited opportunities to speak during live performances. However, her humorous personality has contributed to her popularity.

YE SHUHUA:

YE SHUHUA represents Taiwan within G-IDLE. While she may be less recognized compared to other members due to people's perception of her appearance, she possesses remarkable talent in both dancing and singing.

Now, let's shift our focus to the group as a whole:

G-IDLE, managed by CUBE Entertainment, made their debut in 2018. Over the years, their leader, JEON SOYEON, has penned numerous famous songs, including "QUEENCARD" and "TOMBOY," which challenge societal prejudices. These songs have played a significant role in their rise to fame.

Among their repertoire, my personal favorite tracks include "NXDE," "TOMBOY," and "MY BAG."

This is the introduction of G-IDLE. I hope you like it.
