Mission to Bluvana

This story was written over 5 weeks as the final project for the first-year Creative Writing students. It’s their first attempt at writing a short story on their own, combining all the skills they’ve learned through the year.
Sam asked, “Can the Void Runner make it to Bluvana? It is very far!”
The metallic robotic sound said again, “Yes, but it will take you a month to finish your mission.”
Sam and Rob looked at the round, iron window and looked at the Earth and the Sun. They were very close to the Sun. The Sun’s heat would shine on the surface of Void Runner and replenish its energy.
Sam, an American, age 17, has strong legs and arms, skin appeared black. He loved to play basketball. Rob, a Frenchman, age 20, has curly hair and a strong arm. loved to play football and rugby. Mechano, the robot on the spaceship, had a big screen on its body, and the screen had a lot of functions. The Void Runner, the spaceship, had a lot of rooms. Such as the kitchen and bedroom.
Suddenly, the red alarm rang. There were a lot of mini spaceships blocking their way. Mechano called them to rush to the control room, and the spaceship opened the shield to dodge the missiles, but the shield’s durability was very low. Mechano said,“ Rob, Sam you two may have to get out of the spaceship and fight them.”
The Void Runner collapsed three hundred missiles. They press the blue buttons three times and then press the red button. The spaceship shot thirty automatic missiles, and an energy web stretched out of the spaceship and swallowed any stones and metals to refill the fuel, muscles, and speed. They only killed half of the mini spaceships. The shield’s durability automatically They have two choices: run away and give up their mission or all rush and kill them all.
“There are too many mini robots. We can’t exterminate them all! You two all take a saber and a flamethrower,” said Mechano.
They took their weapons and the saber shot beams and killed a large area of mini-robots. The flamethrower burned half of the mini-robots. The rest of the robots changed to a lot of shield balls and rolled them. Mechano opened the screen and made a lot of spears, and Sam used them and combined them with a large spear and a shield. Rob took it to kill all the balls.
Suddenly, the mini robots all changed and tried to roll by Rob’s feet, but the gigantic spear all changed to a lot of small spears back. The robot all exploded. Rob jumped to celebrate their victory.
“Can we land on that planet?” asked Sam.
“No. The planet is too dangerous. However, we can use the planet's gravity to increase our speed,” Mechano said. “And do you want to sleep? It is ten o’clock now.”
They went to sleep and woke up. Mechano walked into the wireless charging pad to charge its battery to full. The spaceship is automatically moving.
Part 2
Ten days later, Mechano said, "Rob, Sam, wake up! The spaceship had finally arrived at Bluvana."
On Bluevana, they used the spaceship’s claw and web to gather rocks and soil samples inside the void scar. They discovered that there were pieces of ice. Sam collected a small, rounded meteorite and a big piece of ice to research.
Rob slipped from a rock, dropping into the big meteor crater. Luckily, a rope pulled up Rob.
Suddenly, the spaceship was full of yellow emergency lights.
They checked the spaceship and saw that the claws and drills were broken. They searched their storage metal to melt into a drill and the claws. However, they didn’t have enough metal.
They scanned the planet again and found that there was a lot of metal underground. The metal on the Bluevana was harder than the one on the spaceship. They drilled it with the flamethrower and the saber and made a brand-new drill and claws. They put in the new claws and a brand new drill.
After picking up the rock and the ice and confirming all systems, spaceships, and mechs were fully charged, they were prepared to leave. The launch of Bluevana was smooth. Using the Void Runner’s engine, they set a course back toward home. When they went back to Earth, they said their discovery was on the Bluevana because they walked differently. They slept and did a lot of exercise while Mechano piloted the ship.
When Earth filled their window, they were very excited, and they were ready to leave. The spaceship broke, and they sat in the seat and put on their seatbelts. The spaceship successfully landed on the floor.
Ten days later, Dr. Lo used a large, diamond-made, sharp saw blade to cut the rock into smaller pieces. Then, Dr. Lo pulverized the rock and delivered the powdered rock before sunrise.
Dr. Wong used the polarizing microscope to look at its ingredients. Dr. Wong was overjoyed because she saw the rarest ingredient on Earth, called Beskar. It can be used for healing any disease. It can also make the missiles on the spaceship. They took photos of the Bluevana, and this rock is very common in the Bluevana. They immediately sent the report to Dr. Lo and all the people in Dr. Lo and Dr. Wong’s laboratory.
After a month, they uploaded a report to the “Earth’s Scientists” website, and everyone got a trophy.
